Open space for EVS volunteers
We
are looking for young people willing to stay with us through European Volunteer
Service programme of EU for 6-12 month. There are two positions currently:
"Sekier volunteer" and "Kindergarden volunteer"
Sekier volunteer:
Work of the volunteer will be focused
on natural building, wooden toys making and help with some local development
projects. Food, accommodation, insurance and pocket money (95 eur monthly) are
reimbursed through Youth in Action Programme.
Our conditions:

strong will to do volunteer work and educate through it
- ability to work
independently, but also in team
- acceptance of simple living conditions in
rural farm
- ability to live in close community (4-8 young international
people) with limited privacy
- age less than 30 years when
submitting project

motivation letter and CV. If we will choose you to second round,
personnal visit of our community is necessary, before we agree on
cooperation.
Kindergarden volunteer:
We run informal kindergarden for local kids (because a formal one does not
exist here). It is organized by parents in cooperation with volunteers.
Currently it is only 2 days/week + another irregular events for kids
(celebrations, trips, etc.). We plan to have it 4 times per week since September
2011. The group of kids is relatively small - there are 5-7 of them attending in
age 3-6 years. Some activities are organized in the afternoon and they are
prepared also for 7 pupils of our school. We are inspired by "forest
kindergarden" idea - it means we try to spend with kids as much time outdoors as
possible. We also try to support their creativity by crafts and art. And we play
lots of games with them, of course. The volunteer will work on project with
former teacher in german alternative kindergarden. One day per week he/she will
work with other volunteers from Sekier eco-community.
Accommodation will be provided in a rented room in private house in village (not
in eco-community Sekier).
Our
conditions:
- experience and enthusiasm for work with small children
- will and ability to learn Slovak language quickly (we will organize language
training 2x2 hrs/week)
- acceptance of living in rural area (community´s
social and cultural life is rich, but if someone is addicted to city-lifestyle,
this place is not for him/her)
- communication and social skills: ability to
work in team, to accept responsibility, to discuss constructively, to be
flexible

Educational centre to rent for
your events
We are offering space in our educational centre for
your events. The capacity is 30 beds. The building and its surrounding is
designed to present natural building, permaculture, non-fossil energy resources
and eco-friendly lifestyle in general. Look on this pictures to see how it looks
like. Under certain conditions we are able to cooperate also in programme part
of your event (lecturing, team building games, etc.). The price is 6,70 eur per
night/person and less than 10 eur for food/day/person. This is basic price, it
is possible to rent other services for extra fee.
The centre is used almost
every day during season, so you need to rent it 6-12 months forward if you are
interested.
This place is not for individual visits or for smaller groups
than 12 people. We prefere to host educational activities there.
